In May 2014 piano lecturer (instrumental pedagogy) and musical educator Kordian Więcek had the idea to arrange “The Great Bath” for 2 pianos. The result was an independent and varied version of the work. Having a lot of fun arranging, the “Opening” was written 2 months later, which consists of all 3 Main Themes of Turrican, with the theme of the second title forming the main motif.
The remainder of the album - which was designed in the style of program music - was created in 2 weeks during the autumn break and was completed in October 2014.
The work musically reproduces the gaming experience that one can live through in a video game.
This includes an intro and outro as well as the typical loading sequences of the classic Amiga computers. The hero has to get through several levels, climb the tower with his last strength until he can finally win the final battle. Symbolically, the fist is hit on the piano (to remind of the steel fist boss of the Turrican game), octave repetitions are intended to test the stamina of the player, grenades, lasers and machine guns can be heard in the final battle (hitting the palm of the hand is reminiscent of pressing the Space button for the Smartbomb). With the soulful “Credits” you can then enjoy your victory.
The world premiere took place on March 21, 2015 in Siegburg.
released October 15, 2021
