"Quiet Songs is a mix of unreleased, obscure and early work.
The album opens with one of my personal ever favourites. It was written as an early test for the BAFTA-winning Everybody's Gone to the Rapture and features the stunning vocals of Elin Manahan Thomas.
The tracks are bound by their scoring for strings, piano and voice, and a sense of quiet contemplation. They were composed for a variety of projects, including The Second Death of Caspar Helendale (for the Royal Opera House); Seven Ages (for the Royal Shakespeare Company/Magic Leap) and there's a lovely string arrangement of The Mourning Tree from Rapture, arranged by Jim Fowler.
I wanted to reflect the current global situation and so all profits from Quiet Songs will go to the charity Refuge, supporting women and children at risk of domestic abuse, for the month of May. Please feel free to overpay- it's all going to a wonderful cause."
